Every Monday, I'll share music that I like, has been a significant part of my life, or simply feels good to me. I call this Song Appreciation Monday (or SAM, in short), and I hope you'll appreciate these songs and music too!

I'm back with SAM after a two-week hiatus! Where did I go? Nowhere. It was actually an unplanned break. I got stuck in my writing for SAM because I felt I wasn't doing well in it. I wondered if I was sharing too much about myself instead of the song or music. I felt that the song appreciation aspect was lacking, but I didn't know what to add in. I felt like I was beginning to talk about similar points over and over again. I was worried I might run out of music and ideas to post for SAM soon. I... had so many doubts in my mind that made it difficult to sit through and write. In fact, I spent almost half an hour typing this paragraph, repeatedly deleting and retyping my sentences.
I needed some encouragement to restart my writing for SAM, so I turned to the song that I used to sing along to regularly. For those of us who are stuck or feel like giving up, this song is for you.
(For friends who need captions, here's a lyrics video of the song: https://youtu.be/P87JgCE7bxg.)
I hope the song has cheered you up a little, and you're ready to look up again!
I really like this song for the way it builds up to an inspiring climax. The song begins with the feeling you get from a friend (or loved one) sitting beside you, looking at you with a soft, caring gaze and telling you about your strengths. It builds up to the chorus with both of you shouting out loud your conviction to not give up!
My favourite part of the song is the bridge that's filled with meaningful phrases. I would feel a small sense of accomplishment whenever I managed to sing through this part without a blunder! 😆 These are the phrases that mean a lot to me:
(There's only a small part of the lyrics that is factually incorrect. Wanna guess what it is? It's this: 'Cos even the stars, they burn / Some even fall to the Earth. Shooting stars aren't stars! They are actually small chunks of ice or rocks that burn up when they enter Earth's atmosphere!)
